Greenshed 2023

A collection of mainly instrumentals using samples of orchestral and other digital instruments. I play bass guitar and sing on some, and I’ve written the bass and melody lines and chord sequences and chose playing styles and rhythms to get the sounds I want.

“It’s So Hot” (K. Zibell, 2023)–and it affects everyone.
“Scratch That Itch” (K. Zibell, 2023). Sometimes you’ve just got to explore what’s out there...

“Wind and Waves”, K. Zibell, 2023. Geoff Dea (trumpet) and Ivan Cetinich (sax) provide the brass parts. The other instruments are digital samples following my notations.

“Fantasies and Ghosts” (K. Zibell). This was intended to be a song, but I’m lyrically bereft at present, so I wrote a sax part instead. I’m playing double bass on this one and Ivan Cetinich plays sax.
“Parousia” (K. Zibell, 2023). Parousia refers to the second coming of Christ, but I was more influenced by Yeats’ poem “The Second Coming.”
“Eve Encounters the Serpent with Trepidation” (K. Zibell, 2023). Robert Crumb’s illustrated “The Book of Genesis” evokes certain images…
“Dawn & Dusk” (K. Zibell, 2023). Linda recorded the sounds of birds, frogs and crickets at dawn and dusk and asked me to put some music behind them.
“Olgarithms” (K. Zibell, 2023). A play on words and a musical play with some eastern style rhythms and the harmonic minor scale.
